Alstom has delivered three Innovia APM R trainsets to Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). These fully driverless trains will begin operations on July 1, 2025. The system, designed to carry up to 270 passengers per trip, features the Urbalis Flo Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) system for improved reliability, efficiency, and lower operational costs.
The APMs underwent testing by Malaysia’s Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) and are part of a broader project led by Alstom with a local JV between IJM Construction and Pestech Technology. The trainsets offer features like condition monitoring, smart climate control, regenerative braking, and wide entry points for easier passenger flow.
