The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail (KL-SG HSR) project is expected to cost around RM70 billion. MyHSR Corporation received concept proposals from seven consortia, with three shortlisted groups seeking government financial support despite initial plans for private funding.
These consortia include YTL Construction Sdn Bhd-SIPP Rail Sdn Bhd, MRCB-IJM-BRail-KTMB, and a China-based consortium led by China Railway Construction. The government of Malaysia has also suggested adopting a concession model for private sector involvement.
