PT LRT Jakarta has announced that the new Velodrome–Manggarai Light Rail Transit (LRT) route will be fully operational by August 2026. According to the company’s Main Director, Roberto Akyuwen, construction works are ongoing and are targeted for completion by December 2025. The new route spans 5.8 km and includes five stations.
The extension connects Velodrome in East Jakarta to Manggarai, supporting future integration with major hubs such as Dukuh Atas. The corridor is projected to carry 30,000–70,000 passengers daily, a tenfold increase compared to current ridership. The operator has set the fare at IDR60,000 for this route, higher than the existing Pegangsaan Dua–Velodrome fare, in line with operating cost considerations.
LRT Jakarta currently operates a 5.8-km line with six stations from Pegangsaan Dua to Velodrome using Hyundai Rotem trainsets, each with a capacity of 270 passengers. Despite low ridership—about 10 per cent utilisation—the operator recorded a gross profit of IDR103 billion in 2024, supported largely by government subsidies. The Velodrome–Manggarai extension is expected to enhance connectivity and strengthen Jakarta’s integrated public transport network.
