The People’s Committee in Vietnam’s Hai Phong City has approved Vietnam Electricity National Power Transmission (EVNNPT), a subsidiary of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), as the investor of a 500 kV substation project. A total investment of VND617.2 billion was approved.

The substation will have a capacity of 1,800 MVA to meet the load demand in the city. This will strengthen interconnections in the regional power system, ensure a safe, reliable and stable operation of the regional and national power systems, reduce power loss and increase EVN’s productivity.

With this move, Hai Phong became the first locality to approve an investor for a power transmission project after the approval of the Power Development Plan VIII in May 2023.
