The Governments of India and Singapore are exploring a 2,000 MW cross-border power interconnection to expand regional electricity trade. One option under consideration is a land-based transmission corridor spanning approximately 3,000 km, linking Imphal in India with Singapore through Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia.
The proposed interconnection could facilitate cross-border electricity trade, renewable energy integration and regional energy security. Discussions also covered cooperation under the ASEAN Power Grid, including regional transmission infrastructure, multilateral power trade, battery energy storage and other clean energy technologies.
