Hyundai Motor Company has supplied 11 COUNTY EV electric buses for Bali’s first electric public transport initiative in Indonesia, in partnership with local bus body manufacturer Laksana. The buses were presented at the launch of the Bali Sustainable Transportation System Official Development Assistance (ODA) Project on October 22. Led by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), in cooperation with South Korea’s Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and the Indonesian government, the initiative aims to support greenhouse gas emissions reduction and promote sustainable mobility in the tourism destination.
The 8-metre mid-size COUNTY EV buses feature 20 seats, a 128 kWh battery and a driving range of more than 200 miles on a full charge. Hyundai Motor will implement an EV Bus Field Quality Assurance Program, including a local monitoring centre to track vehicle quality and driving performance during initial operations. The deployment builds on the company’s supply of 11 COUNTY EV buses to Surabaya in November 2024. Hyundai Motor plans to expand its electric commercial vehicle business across Indonesia, including Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya and Medan, and pursue further opportunities across the Asia-Pacific region.
