Huawei has received the “ICT Industry and Talent Development in Malaysia” award from the Malaysia Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC). The award recognises Huawei’s significant contribution to nurturing ICT talent in the country.

Since the establishment of its business in Malaysia in 2001, Huawei has become a strategic partner of all major telecom operators that have deployed its latest technologies and products in the country over the years. Going further to support the long-term sustainable growth of the Malaysian telecom industry, the vendor has provided training to the local people and transferred knowledge to increase Malaysia’s competitive edge in the global market.

In 2011, Huawei signed an MoU with MDeC to provide ICT training for 10,000 Malaysians in support of the country’s development of the telecommunications sector over the next five years. Based on the agreement, Huawei will provide equipment to the Malaysia Super Corridor, the Malaysia Knowledge Workers Development Center, and several local universities to open training labs and accredited test labs.

Moreover, in 2012, Huawei opened its Global Training Center in Cyberjaya to train 20,000 engineers annually. In June 2013, Huawei and MDeC signed another MoU to jointly promote the digital education solution in Malaysia’s primary, secondary, and tertiary education systems.
