Globe Telecom was one of the top five Asian telecom providers to be acknowledged for its business foresight at the Telecom Service Provider Innovation (TSPI) Awards by the International Data Corporation (IDC). It was the only telecom company from the Philippines to have ranked one of the top five slots.
Globe shared the recognition with India-based Bharti Airtel, Hong Kong Broadband, Japan’s NTT Comms, and Singapore-based SingTel. All these operators distinguished themselves from among over 100 nominees across Asia. A panel of independent industry practitioners, IDC’s Asia-Pacific telecom and 4 Pillars practice leaders selected the winners based on the following key criteria: effectiveness of implementation; angle of innovation; business advantages; impact on customers; market take-up; and response to market needs.
Globe also won the “Most Innovative xCommerce Enabler” award for its GCASH American Express (AMEX) Virtual Pay product. It is a prepaid virtual card that is connected to a user’s GCASH mobile wallet. This card allows users to shop online from both local and international sites that accept AMEX as a mode of payment.
IDC is a leading global provider of market intelligence for the information technology, telecommunications, and consumer technology markets. The TSPI Awards assesses the levels of competitiveness and leadership of the region’s telecom service providers in the global service provider marketplace. It also recognises the operators’ efforts in leveraging innovation to achieve their business objectives.
