Ridership on the Greater Jakarta public transport systems has recorded a 330 per cent increase as compared to the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019. Most of this increase comes from Commuter Line (KRL), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta, and bus rapid transit (BRT) TransJakarta.

As of August 2022, daily ridership on the MRT Jakarta reached 60,000 while about 600,000 passengers used the Greater Jakarta KRL daily. TransJakarta recorded daily ridership of 700,000 in August 2022.

The positive trend is expected to continue as travel restrictions are eased and pre-pandemic ridership levels are also expected to be recorded in the upcoming months. Before the pandemic, the number of daily KRL users stood at 1.2 million and TransJakarta had about one million riders per day.
