The Government of Indonesia is planning to improve transport infrastructure and connectivity with Timor-Leste to strengthen connectivity and commodity distribution. Some of the projects announced include a bus line between Kupang city in Indonesia and Dili, Timor-Leste’s capital city. This line will be developed and operated by Indonesia-based Damri Public Corporation.

To improve maritime connectivity between the two countries, the development of the Atapupu port in Indonesia’s Belu district has also been announced. The new port will be able to accommodate larger cargo ships.

Development of an international freight terminal in Motaain, on the border between Indonesia and Timor-Leste, is already underway. This will serve as a local centre for the movement of goods between the two countries.
