The city government of Hanoi has approved the Development Plan for Public Transport by Electric and Green Energy Buses, a road map to transition to clean buses by 2035. The road map also aligns with the commitments of the Government of Vietnam under the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow in 2021 (COP26).
Under this plan, the government of Hanoi will convert 1,813 buses to electric, compressed natural gas (CNG), and liquefied natural gas (LNG) buses by 2030 and will convert 238 buses to clean buses by 2035. This plan involves an investment of around VND48.63 trillion, with the city government allocating around VND36 trillion or about 74 per cent of the total investment and the private sector investing around VND12.63 trillion or about 26 per cent of the total investment.
