The Philippines’ Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced plans to hire a consultant to draft the Philippine Transportation System Master Plan (PTSMP) for 2025–2055. This comprehensive framework will guide passenger and cargo transportation development, aligning with the country’s sustainable growth and climate goals. The project is supported by the USD44 million Facility for Accelerating Studies for Infrastructure (FASt-Infra) of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), applied for in 2023.
Consulting firms interested in the 30-month project, commencing April 2025, must submit expressions of interest by December 20, 2024. The PTSMP aims to establish a multimodal transport system prioritizing sustainability, resilience, and compliance with global standards. It aligns with the Philippine Development Plan (2023-2028), the National Climate Change Action Plan, and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The plan will also create a Transport Data Management System and Data Observatory for enhanced monitoring and policymaking.
