The Government of the Philippines has secured PHP3.6 billion from the European Union (EU) to promote the green economy in the country. This agreement aligns with the Green Economy Program, which is a key part of the EU’s contribution to the Team Europe Initiative.

This initiative will include the development of a circular economy, reducing waste and plastic usage, ensuring water supply and wastewater treatment, promoting energy efficiency, and deploying renewable energy (RE) to combat the climate crisis.

As part of the agreement, the EU will collaborate with the national and local governments of the country and the private sector to promote green investments, bonds, and skills.
