The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has announced the commencement of the commercial operations of the 24 MW hydro-floating solar hybrid project at Ubol Ratana Dam.

The project is located in Khon Kaen Province and integrates solar energy, hydropower and a battery energy storage system (BESS). It harnesses solar energy during the day and hydropower at night, with the BESS supporting electricity generation during the transition between the two.

Aligned with Thailand’s Power Development Plan B.E. 2561-2580, Revision 1, EGAT will develop 16 floating solar projects at nine dams, totalling an installed capacity of 2,725 MW.
