The Airports of Thailand (AoT) has announced plans to build a third passenger terminal at the Don Mueang International Airport to increase the handling capacity up to 50 million passengers annually in 2029. Currently, the airport can handle 30 million passengers annually.

The third terminal will be on the south side. An additional space of 155,000 metre squares will be constructed to transport 18 million more passengers annually. It will also have 12 parking bays for aeroplanes. Once the third terminal is built, first and second terminals will be merged to handle 22 million domestic passengers annually.

Additionally, AoT will upgrade the seven-storey parking building and construct a new VVIP reception building and an office building for airlines.
