Changi Airport has awarded two major construction contracts for its Terminal 5 (T5) development, with a combined value of USD4.75 billion in Singapore. The first contract, valued at USD3.8 billion, was given to a joint venture between China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) and Obayashi Singapore. This contract covers the construction of the foundation and basements for the main terminal and ground transport centre. The second contract, worth USD950 million, was awarded to Hwa Seng Builder for airside infrastructure, including remote aircraft stands and taxilanes.

T5 is part of the Changi East development and will enhance the airport’s capacity by an additional 50 million passengers annually, bringing the total capacity to 140 million. The terminal is expected to be operational in the mid-2030s. The contracts are crucial to the airport’s expansion, which also includes a third runway and various support facilities. Construction is scheduled to begin later this month.
