Alan Heng has been appointed the new chief executive officer (CEO) of Singapore GasCo, the newly established government-owned entity responsible for managing the procurement and supply of natural gas for the power sector. Heng, who was previously the group chief executive of Pavilion Energy, takes over leadership of the entity as it prepares to centralise gas procurement and negotiate favourable terms to ensure a stable and cost-effective supply for Singapore’s power generation. Heng’s experience in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry is seen as crucial for the success of the initiative, which aims to bolster energy security and improve gas procurement efficiency in the country.

His appointment comes as Singapore moves forward with its plans to start procuring LNG from diverse sources in 2026. This development is a key step in Singapore’s strategy to secure its energy future, as the city-state relies heavily on natural gas for its electricity needs. Heng’s leadership will be instrumental in navigating the complexities of long-term gas contracts and establishing Singapore GasCo as a key player in the country’s energy sector.
