Singapore-based transport operator ComfortDelGro has opened its autonomous shuttle service in Punggol to the public. The service can be booked through the Zig mobile application and the government-backed BookingSG platform, marking a significant step in the commercial deployment of autonomous mobility services in Singapore.
The autonomous shuttles operate daily between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on a 25-minute route serving key locations including Punggol Coast Mall, Sam Kee LRT Station and Northshore Drive. From July 2026, the service will expand to a longer 50-minute route covering additional destinations such as Oasis Terraces, Punggol Plaza and the Waterway Sunrise residential estates. More than 1,500 passengers have already used the service during an invite-only trial that began in April 2026.
The Punggol deployment is ComfortDelGro’s second public autonomous vehicle operation after launching commercial robotaxi services in Guangzhou in 2025. The company currently operates a fleet of five autonomous vehicles and aims for autonomous vehicles to account for 10 per cent of its global point-to-point transport fleet by 2030. The project is part of Singapore’s broader autonomous vehicle testing programme, which also includes trials by Grab in partnership with WeRide. Discussions are ongoing with the Land Transport Authority regarding future fare structures and commercial operations.
