City Energy has launched Singapore’s first app-free electric vehicle (EV) charging service under its Go by City Energy brand. The new “AutoCharge” feature enables EV drivers to charge their vehicles by simply plugging in—no app access, QR code scanning, or login is required after an initial one-time setup via the Go by City Energy app. The system is now operational at over 200 charge points across Singapore and Malaysia, supported through a collaboration with Malaysia’s EV Connection and its JomCharge network.
At launch, AutoCharge is available at five key sites in Singapore, with plans for islandwide expansion. The technology uses a combination of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and EV Charge Controller ID (EVCC ID) to authenticate each charging session automatically. The system currently supports EVs from AION, BYD, Chery, MG, and Tesla, with more brands to follow.
This initiative aligns with Singapore’s Green Plan 2030, which prioritises cleaner mobility. City Energy has committed over USD100 million to EV infrastructure development in private residential and commercial areas by 2030. The firm also continues to invest in sustainable energy solutions, including smart appliances and low-carbon hydrogen integration in town gas production, reinforcing its role in the country’s energy transition.
