Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) has announced plans to invest PHP9.6 billion (USD 163 million) in an 80 MW onshore wind farm in Pangasinan, Philippines. The project will be implemented by its subsidiary, Citicore Wind Energy Corporation (CWEC), and is slated for completion by Q1 2028.

The project was among the successful bids in the second round of the Philippine government’s Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP) in 2023. Once operational, it will supply clean electricity to Luzon and contribute to job creation throughout the project lifecycle.

This development follows CREC’s partnership with Singapore-based Levanta Renewables in 2024 for a broader 375 MW wind portfolio. CREC is targeting 1 GW of installed capacity by the end of 2025 and aims to expand to 5 GW by 2028. The company currently operates 285 MW of solar assets and is integrating battery energy storage systems (BESS) across its facilities.

Thirteen of CREC’s renewable energy projects have been declared of national significance, streamlining the approval process as the firm ramps up its clean energy expansion.
