The World Bank has announced that the trunk line of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in the Philippines will be completed by August 2024. Package 1 of the PHP29 billion project, which includes the trunk line from Cebu South Bus Terminal to the Cebu Provincial Capitol via Osmeña Boulevard, has reached 64 per cent completion. The line was originally targeted for completion between June and July 2024.
Meanwhile, procurement for a contractor for Package 2 of the BRT is underway, with construction expected to start in October 2024. Package 2 covers the route from South Road Properties to Barangay Mambaling via N. Bacalso Avenue. The World Bank has also approved and disclosed the Resettlement Action Plan for this phase.
