The Government of Cambodia has opened a 19.83 km section of National Road 23, strengthening regional connectivity in Kandal province and improving access between key districts.

The upgraded road stretches from Koh Thom Bridge in Chrouy Takeo commune to Peam Reang commune, linking with National Road 14. Built to modern standards, the two-lane asphalt road features an 11-metre width and is designed to support both vehicle and motorcycle traffic.

The project includes key infrastructure such as three bridges with a combined length of over 116 metres, multiple drainage and cross-road culverts, and 80 solar-powered LED streetlights. Additional safety features such as road signs, pavement markings, and a roundabout near Koh Thom Bridge have been installed to enhance traffic flow and safety.

Construction began in June 2023 and forms part of broader efforts to improve transport infrastructure, boost mobility, and support economic activity in the region. The road is expected to facilitate smoother travel for local communities while enhancing connectivity to national transport corridors.
