The Cambodian government has approved over $830 million worth of electricity infrastructure projects, including a 150 MW hydropower dam, a 265 MW coal-fired power station and three transmission lines. The 150 MW Stung Tatai Leu dam will be built on the upper reaches of the Tatai river in Koh Kong province’s northern Thma Bang district by China National Heavy Machinery Corporation. It is expected to cost around $389.4 million and will generate electricity at an average of 527 million kWh per year. Besides, a 199.52 km long transmission line connecting Phnom Penh to the Cambodia-Lao border and another 107 km line linking Battambang province with the Cambodian-Thai border will be built at an estimated cost of over $330.46 million and $110.94 million respectively.
