The Government of Singapore has allocated a budget of SGD66 million to fund studies into ageing infrastructure in the country till 2027 under the Cities of Tomorrow development program. The funds will be used to promote resilient, sustainable, and liveable cities, as well as to upgrade existing infrastructure.
Of the total budget, SGD13 million will be used to develop advanced building inspection and repair systems, as well as advanced and durable building materials. About SGD35 million will be used to explore ways to create underground and sea space in a more cost-effective way.
Lastly, SGD18 million will be used to develop advanced urban planning solutions that will use urban sciences, data analytics and artificial intelligence to help policy makers deliver more targeted planning outcomes.
The Cities of Tomorrow development program was launched in 2017 with a budget of SGD150 million. At the start of 2022, an additional SGD110 million was also allocated to the program.
