The Basic Energy Corporation (BSC) has announced plans to deploy between ten to 80 class 2 electric buses (e-buses) in each of the 82 provinces in the Philippines over five years. Implementation will be supported by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
Ecology Builders and Development Corporation (EBDC), a subsidiary of BSC, will locally assemble the Class 2 e-buses which will then be sold to transport operators.
Recently, EcoOil station in Laguna and the Phoenix Station in Vito Cruz have been added to the pilot test program. The Basic e-Hubs will have charging facilities for the e-buses and e-jeeps. The terminals are also expected to provide other eco-friendly facilities to benefit the public.
The company also plans to partner with distribution utilities (DUs) to set up modular solar plus battery energy storage systems (BESS). Further, the five MW solar power plant with BESS for all DUs will generate electricity to power up 80 e-buses.
