East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) will implement an LTE-Railway (LTE-R) communications network using a 4G network to enhance safety, fast communication and signalling system. LTE-R is based on the same 4G LTE technology used by mobile phone network providers.
As of October 2023, work on the ECRL is 54.14 per cent completed. The line is set to travel at a maximum speed of 160 km/hr and is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
