Skyports Infrastructure and AirAsia’s Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) have signed a letter of intent (LOI) to explore air taxi infrastructure development in Malaysia. The study will be undertaken over a period of 12 months and Kuala Lumpur, the country’s capital, will be prioritised as the initial operating location for the urban air mobility (UAM) infrastructure.

In order to eventually establish a network of vertiports in Malaysia, the companies will evaluate ways to integrate existing transport operations with an air taxi vertiport infrastructure, identify potential vertiport sites, and develop operational frameworks.

AirAsia already has plans to lease 100 Vertical Aerospace VX4 eVTOL aircraft to boost AAM in Malaysia. The company has also launched its drone training program for businesses in Malaysia.
