The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is set to expand support for Vietnam’s infrastructure development, with priority areas including transport infrastructure, railway connectivity, green and energy transition, urban development and cross-border connectivity. The cooperation is expected to move from individual projects towards a programme-based approach, creating a portfolio of implementation-ready projects.

The partnership will also focus on technical assistance for project preparation, innovative financing structures and co-financing with development partners and the private sector. Vietnamese financial institutions are expected to explore models for mobilising capital and issuing bonds in the domestic market, while AIIB will support the identification, preparation and implementation of priority projects.
