The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has approved USD1.14 billion for the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB) project in the Philippines. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is the lead co-financer and will cover 65 per cent of the USD4.35 billion project cost.
The BCIB Project will be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and will involve constructing a bridge over 32 km long, including two climate-resilient cable-stayed bridges. It also features 24 km of marine viaducts and 8 km of approach roads
The funding will be disbursed in three phases, starting with an initial package of USD350 million. The BCIB will be equipped with advanced Climate Resilient Bridge Alert Systems. Upon completion, the bridge will cut travel time between Mariveles and Naic from five hours to 90 minutes.
