ADB has inaugurated a 50 kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system with a 273 kW energy storage unit. The Malalison PV-storage hybrid system is a pilot project carried out by a private JV between the Philippine utility, Antique Electric Co-operative (ANTECO) and One Renewable Energy Enterprise Inc (OREEI). The project, expected to cost $500,548 (Euro 445,828), has been provided two grants of $100,000 by ADB for the solar system and prepaid metering, the use of which will also be piloted. The remaining $125,474 and $175,074 for solar generation has been provided by ANTECO and OREII respectively.
