Siemens Mobility, in partnership with VinSpeed High-Speed Rail Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, has signed a turnkey contract for two high-speed rail lines in Vietnam. Valued at up to EUR1 billion (USD1.61 billion), the contract covers the 121-km Hanoi–Quang Ninh line and the 54-km Ben Thanh–Can Gio line. Siemens Mobility will serve as the technology partner, while VinSpeed will undertake project development, track construction and civil works.
Siemens Mobility will supply 10 Velaro Novo trainsets for the two lines, along with communications and electrification systems. The trains will operate at speeds of up to 350 km/hr and feature Automatic Train Operation (ATO) integrated with European Train Control System Level 2 (ETCS L2) signalling. Each seven-car, 200-metre trainset will provide 760 seats, with the design offering at least 10 per cent greater passenger capacity than previous generations.
