Telkomsel has expanded its 5G network across Batam, Indonesia, installing 112 base transceiver stations (BTS) in collaboration with Ericsson. The network now covers areas such as Harbour Bay, Nagoya, and Hang Nadim Airport, delivering download speeds of over 610 Mbps and latency as low as 14 milliseconds. This expansion supports Telkomsel’s Hyper 5G strategy, aiming to enhance digital infrastructure in the Indonesia-Malaysia-Singapore Growth Triangle.

The rollout includes a private 5G standalone network for Pegatron Group’s smart factory, connecting thousands of machines via 1,200 IoT SIMs. Telkomsel is also deploying AI for real-time network management. With 23 per cent of Batam users already on 5G devices, the operator continues its nationwide rollout, maintaining over 3,000 5G BTS in 56 cities, including Denpasar, Jabodetabek, and Surabaya.
