The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has allocated THB12.4 billion for land acquisition to advance Phase 2 of the Thailand-China high-speed rail (HSR) project from Nakhon Ratchasima to Nong Khai. Covering 357.22 km, the stretch will require 1,991 land plots and 1,428 structures across four provinces.

The project, part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), aims to boost economic development in northeastern Thailand and improve regional connectivity. The line will feature five stations and logistics hubs, with the SRT preparing tender documents to open bidding soon. The SRT board also extended the Phase 1 Contract 3-2 (Muak Lek and Lam Takhong tunnels) by 181 days due to earlier land handover delays. Construction is 90.94 per cent complete and now targeted for December 2025.
