SBS Transit Rail has implemented Project 6Sense, an AI-powered diagnostics and predictive analytics system, to improve the reliability of train operations on Singapore’s North East Line (NEL) and Downtown Line (DTL). Developed in-house, the system integrates diverse data from different train systems and manufacturers into a common dashboard to monitor train health and classify risk levels from green to red.
The system uses natural language processing (NLP) to interpret unstructured data in maintenance logs and determine potential root causes of faults. It allows engineers to detect and address issues earlier, reducing service disruptions. The platform also tracks the performance of maintenance contractors and has led to improved operational decision-making. 6Sense is expected to extend the lifespan of existing assets while optimising fleet availability and maintenance planning.
