PLDT has obtained a USD34.4 million social loan from HSBC to enhance its fiber infrastructure in underserved regions of the Philippines.

The funds will target municipalities classified as fourth to sixth class, focusing on Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs). Currently, PLDT’s fiber network covers about 59 per cent of these municipalities, and the expansion aims to boost digital access, enabling communities to benefit from education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. This is part of PLDT’s commitment to digital inclusion and sustainable development.
