UAE-based Masdar has signed an implementation roadmap to develop 10 GW of renewable energy (RE) projects in Malaysia. The projects will include ground-mounted, rooftop and floating solar power plants, onshore wind farms and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
The road map aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and the net zero 2050 vision of the Government of Malaysia. The country aims to supply 31 per cent of its power requirements through RE by 2025, increasing to 40 per cent by 2035 and 70 per cent by 2050.
