Yunnan Baoshan Electric Power Company Limited is seeking project equipment for its $200 million hydropower plant with a capacity of 100 MW in Myanmar. The company is attempting to get in various suppliers from outside the country including Alstom Power and China Yangtze Power Company Limited for four 22.5 MW hydro turbine generators. Besides these, the company will establish two generator step-up transformers (GSUs). The project has a designed annual power generation capacity of 502,000 MW.
The feasibility study for the project has been completed and is awaiting approval from the local government. The Yunnan Institute of Water and Hydropower Engineering Investigation, Design and Research is responsible for the project design. Domestic companies can also help in developing the project.
The country is also planning to develop other hydropower plants in this district because of the abundance of the resource in the area.
