Xuan Cau Holdings has started construction of a 450 MW solar power plant in Tay Ninh province in southern Vietnam. The VND7.77 trillion (USD300 million) project is expected to generate approximately 808 GWh of electricity annually and is scheduled to enter operation in December 2027.
The solar project is Xuan Cau Holdings’ third solar power plant in Tay Ninh and its fifth renewable energy project in Vietnam. The facility will contribute to the expansion of renewable energy generation and support rising electricity demand once operational.
The development aligns with Vietnam’s revised National Power Development Plan, adopted in April 2025, which targets a renewable energy share of 28-36 per cent of the power mix by 2030, excluding hydropower, and around 75 per cent by 2050. Vietnam’s peak electricity demand is expected to reach approximately 85.7 GW by 2030 and 202-228 GW by 2050. The country also plans to expand onshore wind capacity to 26 GW by 2030 and offshore wind capacity to 6-17 GW.
As of 2025, Vietnam had 90.6 GW of total installed power capacity, including 19.2 GW of solar capacity.
