Vingroup is advancing plans to construct a 49 km metro line connecting District 7 and Can Gio District in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), with construction potentially beginning as early as 2026. The project is being developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, and Vingroup has been authorised to prepare and fund the proposal independently.

The HCMC government approved the company’s study in May 2025, requiring the proposal to meet all regulatory standards and be submitted within 12 months. The route will run from Nguyen Van Linh Parkway to a large site near the Vinhomes Green Paradise development.

The dual-track line will use standard-gauge (1,435 mm) rail and is designed for a maximum speed of 250 km/h. Estimated to cost around USD 4 billion, the project is expected to improve connectivity and stimulate development in Can Gio, a coastal district with significant growth potential.
