US-based Woodside Energy has signed a non-binding Heads of Agreement (HOA) with Malaysia’s PETRONAS for the long-term supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG), marking a major step in energy collaboration between the two companies. The agreement covers the annual supply of 1 million tonnes of LNG over 15 years beginning in 2028.

The LNG will be drawn from Woodside’s global portfolio, potentially including its newly approved Louisiana LNG facility in the U.S. This deal represents Woodside’s first potential long-term LNG supply to Malaysia and strengthens its presence in the Asia-Pacific energy market.

PETRONAS sees the agreement as part of its broader strategy to ensure stable, flexible energy supplies for Malaysia and neighbouring markets. Both companies aim to finalise a binding agreement and continue exploring further cooperation in energy security, sustainability, and trading.
