PT Blue Bird Tbk (BIRD) has earmarked IDR1.8 trillion in capital expenditure for 2025, mirroring its 2024 budget, with a primary focus on fleet expansion and renewal.

Around 30 per cent of the capex — approximately IDR540 billion — was already utilised in Q1 2025. The allocation supports Blue Bird’s response to rising public mobility and transport demand across Indonesia.

The company plans to add at least 1,200 new vehicles in 2025, similar to last year’s increase, although actual additions may surpass this figure depending on market dynamics. As of end-2024, Blue Bird operated around 24,200 vehicles across 20 cities.

A key area of focus is the expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) fleet. By the end of 2024, Blue Bird had over 300 EVs in operation, covering MPVs, luxury vehicles, and electric buses. The ongoing investment underscores Blue Bird’s strategy to modernise its fleet and support the transition to sustainable urban transport in Indonesia.
