WHA Utilities & Power Public Company Limited (WHAUP) will deploy rooftop solar panels in a WHA industrial estate in Rayong to develop a peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading site. A trading platform will be created for large factories and warehouses to trade energy and will have a power generation capacity of 100 MW. The initiative will involve around 30-40 factories in the area. The project is awaiting approval from has the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and is set to begin within the next six months.

WHAUP, Sertis Company and PTT Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) during June 2021 to develop the smart energy platform to support the P2P energy trading project. The trading platform will be equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technologies to optimise electricity management. The partnership is part of an ERC sandbox project focused on evaluating microgrid electricity management.
