A new wastewater treatment plant started operations in Long Xuyen city in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on October 8, 2019. The construction of the plant which has a designed daily capacity of 30,000 cubic metres, began in 2015. The project involved a total investment of more than $65 million, with $46 million sourced from official development loans from the Government of the Republic of Korea and the remainder from the Vietnamese government. Currently, the plant has been put into trial operation for six months, running at 30 per cent of the designed capacity.
