Finland-based Wärtsilä has finalised the commissioning of the first two energy storage projects in the Philippines. These include the Integrated Renewable Power Hub-Toledo, which has a capacity of 20 MW/ 20 MWh, and the BCCPP, Limay, Bataan, which has a capacity of 40 MW/ 40MWh.
Between 2019 and 2020, the company has signed various energy storage contracts with SMC Global Power Holdings Incorporated and its subsidiary, Universal Power Solutions Incorporated. The projects will include Wärtsilä’s proprietary software and hardware solutions and will be provided on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis. The GridSolv Max system, a regulated energy storage solution that provides flexible and modular storage for the systems’ fundamental hardware assets (batteries, a safety and fire system, and inverters), is also included alongside the GEMS Digital Energy Platform.
