LNGPH, a consortium comprising South Premiere Power Corporation (SPPC) and Excellent Energy Resources, Incorporation (EERI), has signed a 10-year LNG sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with Vitol Asia Private Limited. Starting in 2025, Vitol will supply up to 0.8 million tpy of LNG, sourced from its global portfolio, to the LNGPH terminal in Batangas, Philippines. This deal is expected to support the country’s growing energy needs and enhance energy reliability.
Pablo Galante Escobar, Head of LNG at Vitol, highlighted the importance of the agreement in meeting the Philippines’ rising LNG demand while advancing the transition from carbon-intensive energy sources.
LNGPH, which also includes Linseed Field Power Corporation (LFC), is a key player in the Philippines’ LNG sector, backed by Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN), AboitizPower (AP), and San Miguel Global Power (SMGP). This partnership supports around 18 per cent of Luzon’s power needs. SPPC and EERI currently operate gas-fired power facilities with net sellable capacities of 1,200 MW and 1,275 MW, respectively.
