Vingroup has submitted a proposal to the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee to research and invest in a sea-crossing bridge linking Can Gio and Vung Tau. The project, proposed under a build-transfer (BT) model, aims to improve coastal connectivity and reduce travel time between the two areas following the administrative merger of the former Ba Ria–Vung Tau and Binh Duong provinces into Ho Chi Minh City.
The group stated that the bridge aligns with Decision No. 1125, which revises the city’s master plan through 2040 with a vision toward 2060, emphasising modern infrastructure and regional integration. The proposed link would create a new transport axis along the southern coast, supporting maritime trade, tourism and ecological urban development. Vingroup noted that the corridor’s development is vital for transforming Can Gio from a remote area into a new urban and economic hub.
Vingroup pledged full financing and the use of advanced technology for the project, marking it as a key component of its broader investment strategy in the region. The proposal follows the April 2025 groundbreaking of the 2,870-hectare Can Gio coastal urban project, designed to house around 230,000 residents.
