Viettel Group and South Korea-based operator KT Corporation have signed a USD95 million agreement to advance artificial intelligence (AI) development in Vietnam. The collaboration focuses on building AI data centres, GPU farms, and strengthening Vietnam’s AI ecosystem, aligned with Viettel’s national AI strategy.
Beyond infrastructure, the partnership will develop AI products for consumers and enterprises, including Vietnamese-language virtual assistants, anti-fraud tools, and a national AI model. The deal also includes joint AI consulting, business development, and establishing a global AI hub in Hanoi.
Viettel recently launched two major AI data centres in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and secured 700 MHz spectrum to expand 4G and 5G coverage to 99 percent of Vietnam’s population by 2030, supporting IoT applications like smart cities and precision agriculture. Viettel currently serves 4 million 5G subscribers and operates 6,500 5G base stations nationwide.
