The Government of Vietnam has announced plans to expand its national expressway network to over 9,200 km across 43 routes by 2050. This plan includes the addition of key expressways such as the Ca Mau–Dat Mui and Quang Ngai–Kon Tum routes, which will enhance regional connectivity and support economic growth, particularly in eco-tourism and conservation areas.
The Ca Mau–Dat Mui expressway will be 90 km long with four lanes, and investment is expected post–2030 to meet rising transport demands. The 136 km Quang Ngai–Kon Tum expressway, also with four lanes, is slated for investment before 2030, aiming to link key tourist spots in Kon Tum to the North-South Expressway.
These new routes will contribute to a broader expansion of the expressway network, making the total length approximately 9,234 km, an increase of about 220 km from previous plans. The network will include 2,313 km in the northern region, 1,496 km in the Central and Central Highlands, and 1,380 km in the southern region. Additionally, the North-South Expressway will be upgraded with lane expansions along its 2,063 km stretch from Lang Son to Ca Mau.
