EVN’s transmission subsidiary, the National Power Transmission Corporation (NPT) has signed a $200 million loan agreement backed by Japanese export credit agency Nippon Export Investment Insurance (NEXI). Japanese banks Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Shizuoka Bank, Nomura Trust Bank, Daishi Bank, Chiba Bank, Hachijuni Bank, Hyakugo Bank, Bank of Yokohama and Kyoto Bank are the remaining lenders. The proceeds of the loan will be used to finance the 500 kV Vinh Tan power centre, develop a coal-fired power centre in the central province of Binh Thuan, and set up the 500 kV Song May-Tan Uyen transmission line branch. The tenor of the loan is 13 years and is 100 per cent guaranteed by NEXI with a 36-month availability period.
