TraVinh Wind Power Company Limited started construction of a $130 million wind farm project in Mekong Delta province of TraVinh on February 24, 2016. The plant, with a capacity of 48 MW and 24 turbines in the first phase, will be built on 1,209 hectares of land in Duyen Hai district. It is expected to start operation in February 2017, generating of electricity over 173,000 MWh per year. Vietnam’s master plan for power development aims to increase the country’s combined capacity of all wind power plants to about 1,000 MW by 2020 and 6,200 MW by 2030.
